The Six Pack Fantasy

I am sure every one of you have heard about those
If not, at least dreamt of giving a pose.
With your tummy's tucked in, you try to hide,
Something that always fails to subside.

This used to be a term only sportsmen cherished,
Until our hero unbuttoned and blemished!
Since was spoiled the life of men
Toiling in the gym from six to ten...

Who is it we are trying to impress?
Why is it we force ourselves into distress?
Because all these girls who drool over the pack.
Don't mind choosing someone with slack.

I am not promoting you to carry the lump,
But health is more than 6 you bum!
While this maybe something you think is cool,
Life has a bigger plan than this you fool.

The Disappearing Widow

As I rummaged in my bed,
I saw her run out of sight.
Wondering who, I tried to show my might.
But what stopped me, was fright!

Away she ran, into the darkness
From where I lay- in complete wilderness!
I yelled aloud and continued to for a while
only to hear my voice echoing in style .

The louder and closer I heard the meow.
My spine responded by sending a shrill through.
Adjusting myself,  I muttered to self-
"It must be a cat and no evil elf..."

It must have been a few more hours in the darkness
As the mix of rain and sand brought some freshness,
The love for it drew me to the window,
It was from there I noticed the disappearing widow.

I saw her walk, leaving footprints behind.
As she disappeared fear caught my mind.
With my hands clenched against my eyes
I sat around not moving for a while.

That was when I heard a woman laugh,
Thinking it might be the lady in dark,
I hurried back to the window, to check what caused the fiddle
The footprints now gone, were replaced  by a puddle.

There! I Freaked out seeing the reflection of a demon
As I looked at the branch- draped in white sat the woman.
I rubbed my eyes-to get a good look at the tree
Seeing no one made my heart beat free...

Relieved I turned around and there she stood,
Smiling at me from under the bloody hood.
Shocked I was, as she attacked me with a pound,
In seconds, I realized I had no feet to the ground.

Amigos

I walked into this place with life shattered
Pretty girls to encourage, which never mattered.
And so I thought, that I was stuck in there
In the midst of nerds who would never care.

Two days it took,to be proved wrong
When one of the nerds came up with a song.
We all laughed till our stomach hurt
But praised the hero for his valiant effort.

That's when I realized the 'I' became 'WE'
And these nerds were the best thing that happened to me.
Hence I decided to remove the tag(nerds),
With brand amigo being a reason to brag.

There were childhood stories that inspired,
Of men who failed but never retired.
It was this strength that made us respect,
And though different, learn to accept.

With this acceptance of one another,
We lived a new life dancing together.
Singing aloud and doing all those shameless acts,
Which previously would have made a few of us retract.

Like all good things this had to come to an end,
Not before making things easy before life's toughest bend.
With a new bunch of friends  who love and trust,
Oiling our hearts and saving it from rust.

My Dad- My Hero

Like most fathers, you were the hero of mine
Because you were the reason I could shine.
Some say this worship dies with time,
Maybe its true, but not with mine

Yes we have differences, in thoughts and solutions
Probably the reason for the volcanic eruptions...
I know I get arrogant, wild and mean
Only when such differences, come in between.

You taught me to differentiate right and wrong.
Even to choose a mallu,  over a bong.
It is this comfort that we share,
Which would make the world jealous-in how we pair.

I remember all those childhood days,
When your life had no holiday, nor sundays.
Be it grooming the talent or skill we had,
Or working so hard to get the home repaired.

With all those roots you had to leave behind,
In order to see this new life- in a bind.
Your life centred-with us around,
Protecting us like feathers from the world above...

You stood by us through thick an thin,
Even through failures that bore a sin.
How are WE to repay-all this debt?
Except with love and an option to rest.

To Mom- With LOVE

It all started with the repeat punching and kicking
To endure a pain that was never ending.
There started her sacrifice for a son
Even as the pain would make her numb.

With my birth, she breathed a sigh of relief
Only to realize it was the start of all mischief...
You would be wrong if you thought she'd give up
Because all that it did was - attention- doubled up!

Its not her sorrows that made her cry
But my small wounds that would easily dry.
She kept us away, guarded from misery
Taking it by self so that we didn't worry.

With all those young years of her life,
Invested - just to see us rise.
There is no way I could repay this debt,
To a mom who would seldom rest.

Even as our demands grew unreasonable
There was never a reason which she considered excusable.
For she smiled and gave us everything,
Even when her job, paid her nothing.

Shuttling between job and bringing up her son(s)
She always had the time for all our fun.
Lucky we were to get her as a mother
To love her we shall, all life -together.

The CA Bus

The CA Bus

Its been a good five years now,
Of classes- at different levels in a row.
Surprise, as it always had in store,
With lessons that went straight above.

It was initially hard to break out of the shell,
And bond with the ones who had nothing to tell.
It took time as it always does,
All that mattered was we caught the bus.

This was the bus that drove us around,
In the name of classes we were bound.
It's probably destiny that you meet,
Coz everyone boarded from a different street.

For now the final stop has come,
As you see the last of ' some'...
For life always has a bigger plan,
With a lot more buses to board and man.

Chennai Bliss

I have cursed my luck to be born in a land so humid,
the place that probably is the reason for my life being torrid!
This might be why I overlooked what it gave me,
A lot more than just the food which happens to be yummy!

This city which acts as a culinary of cuisines, for a foodie like me.
Beats the kitchens of the world combined, to an act of mere shame..
Blame me not for the highly inflated bias
As this place offered home to me during the worst!

I can go on endlessly as to why I love this place I call home,
But still my mind desires a need for change. to a place like paris or rome..
Its not the hatred because of which I want to move out of here,
but rather because its absence would make me love this place more.

With my family and friends succumbed to its roots,
I would love to come back here when my mission starts.
Its gonna be long from now, as I would like to live like a king,
In this city where my life made its begining..

For now all I want to do is rush out of here
to start my career in corporate where I can find my peers.
I know its going to be long from now for me to get there,
Until then, its time to relish this city and the love of the ones here.

My First Job

Its been a while since I walked into this place
Then, it was all but sheer disgrace
What better you expect, when you have seen the best
And end up with something that is not even a contest.

so started this journey that would be called my first job,
with no friends to stand by and say- whats up bob?
But a lot later they queued in attendance
Joinin me in this task I considered a never ending penance.

I didnt bother to try and get to know them,
Why, there was even a point that I couldn even stand them.
It was only because I compared them with the world
The world so artificial and superficial with every word.

It was only with a year to go that I realized,
These were friends who would stay by my side.
Been through the worst- failures in full tide,
But with them around, life was an easy stride.

Not just the ones I got to know in the process,
but even the experience I gathered during the recess..
all these would be treasured for life,
With only one regret, that I never used it wise.

I Like To Ride

What I loved the most was to ride,
But when summer is high tide its more of a suicide.
The fun is to be out in the open,
Only till you notice how your skin was to darken.

I used to ride like I own the road,
Only to look right and find a man aboard.
Mine was a honda and so was his,
Only that his was a four wheeled bliss.

So what do I care, when I like to ride?
Even if he hits on me its not he who dies.
No matter what, its my passion ro ride,
Summer or cars this love wouldn't subside.

Weird? Still A Friend!

This is a poem that I wrote for a friend of mine. However I am sure this is something that most of you can relate with...

This is surely weird the way its been,
I still don't remember doing the coolest thing.
It is funny that I have been so close
To a person who seems remorse.

Is it because we became so close,
Or are there reasons you don't want to post?
Either ways I ain't gonna stop you.
Because I wonder if it would even rock you.

All I have to say is- a great friend you have been,
Even if not the one who would like to meet.
I realized- it is possible to trust a person,
Even if they are far from open.

What makes this truly special,
Is that it has been highly confidential.
Maybe that is why we hardly met,
But still you are a friend I would never bet.

Now that it feels like you are gone.
I don't know if I should call out.
Because with the reasons still gray,
I even wonder if a return would stay.

FAILURE

As I bite the dust of failure, yet again!
My hearts screams I can take no more pain.
This isn't the first time it is happening,
But the problem is with it recurring.

All those dreams of a fancy life,
suddenly seems dissolved in all this strife.
The mere feeling of not living with pride,
Is like being pierced by a sharpened knife.

It's like being woken from a horrible dream,
Only to be left in the midst of a screaming beam.
With its deafening noise agonizing the wounds,
The wounds of failure and whatever that surrounds.

Why is it that all the bad comes together?
And why choose me of all other?
As these questions and more ring aloud,
Am still wounded by the burst of my dream-cloud.

The real me drowned in the shallow waters of failure,
Hatred towards all is ant act of instant pleasure.
I wonder what triggered all this hatred and grudge,
It's not like they are the cause for this trudge.

I don't know as to where this road leads me,
but any bargain on success would be a shame.
Worried I lay thinking about my failure,
as to what would be left after all these failures.

Ahhhh!

Oh this one is inspired by 3 idiots... Blame me not if you find some traces from a song in there!!

Give me some peace
Give me some life
Give me some happiness
Of living away from this strife.

You are not my girl
You are never gonna be mine
You need to understand
Am never gonna make your life shine

When I ask you to leave
When you make me shout more
When I am endlessly rude
Its time for you to go...

I need to live..
I don't want you to spill..
I am praying you understand
This is not your way.. to life!!

THE SACRIFICE OF ONE GENERATION

Before I type this poem, I need to tell why I wrote this. The other day I was at work and saw a boy who hardly must be 18. From his face I could make out he had come from the north, that is a several hundred miles just to work here. I could see the pain and tiredness in his face but still this boy wonder smiled wide every time he was given a task by his employer. I am sure he was earning not more than a few thousands ( very low even by Indian standards), but made me wonder how useful it would be to his folks back home.

They travel a hundred miles or maybe more
In search of a job rather furore.
You blame them not in case they rot
In a hometown, which seldom taught.

Is it why they travel a hundred miles?
Or is it to give their family a reason to smile?
We do not know if it's peace they find,
But all we know is they are forced into a bind.

The happiness of the job is not their priority
Its more about the smallest currency.
Brothers and sisters now bond with history
With future uncertain, their life is a mystery.

It makes you wonder why they travel a hundred miles,
Maybe because they dream their children living in style.
If only it could make life a fruitful garden,
Their life would be purposeful, though trodden.

Some go a hundred and some even more
Hoping that tomorrow, life would soar.
Its about THE SACRIFICE OF this ONE GENERATION
That would make life easier for their entire population.

MY GIRL

I waited till the day turned dusk and back again
And so on I let it happen again and again.
I didn't know what I wanted, but knew I could find her
and dreamed of the times, that would keep us together.

There are a million in this globe,
which I am sure is a mere under statement.
How am I to know which among that is her?
At least when there are several who could possibly be just her.

Is this what every guy suffers from?
What would you cal this fever?
Some call it desperation, But I just think it's cooler.
Maybe, because it ain't as easy to get one for a prom.

Last night when I was drunk, I saw her fly around.
Happiness made me jump, only to see none were bound.
I wanted to shout- "Hey I saw her, she was the one"
But rather preferred- "why is the rum always gone?"

So she comes in my dreams alone,
Masked by her face, which is all is known.
Thin or fat I don't remember,
Maybe because before I catch that
Mom is here with her own racket.

But, not one day is gone when I dont run behind her clone
Hoping she may be the one- but why the hell are there more clones?
Confused I am, which is not because of her,
but rather wondering, who would be MY GIRL!

ARMY

This one is a special dedication to the Indian ARMY and for all the soldiers who lost their life fighting for our country.

Standing tall against all
Blood and sweat I recall.
These men do it with pride,
Half of which they never confide.

Life under constant threat,
Still you see no regret.
Living their life for a mother,
A mother who made them all brothers.

Perfection is the word
Indiscipline would be absurd.
Days and nights pass
And this is what they amass.

When it is times of war
Family and friends seem too far.
There is no more dear or fear
Even when they see a blooded spear.

Eating what comes their way
Sleeping when they got none to slay.
Both of which they don't mind sacrificing
Only to see their nation surfacing.

Letting you wilder, because they wouldn surrender,
Their only dream are the borders protected.
For which all life they trodden
And their only wish is not to be forgotten.

THE PASSING CLOUD

This poem was writtern because I was always a person who could never stand seperation. But somehow in life the ones who mattered a lot, seldom stayed. And learning it the hard way made me write a poem to all those who arent still clinging on....

P.s: Best friends are forever.... And this doesnt refer to anyone of them!!

The Passing Cloud

There lived a boy

In a world of his own

He dint want friends

Or they didnt want him

But that’s how he lived

In a world of his own

He loved to talk

Loved to chatter

Talk aloud to ones it dint matter

But he didn’t care as he lived

In a world of his own

People came and people went

But no one stayed as a tenant

His heart so weak,

Were empty spaces, seldom filled!

And so he lived

In a world of his own

But when the times changed

His life raged..

People started flooding

For which there wasn’t an ending.

They all came and stayed for long

But no one knows why it didnt’t prolong

The ones he loved and the ones with care

All left him as he stood to stare

May be he changed

Or they did

All he knew was they never stayed

Against which he always prayed

Alert he was

And never shared

To anyone how his life faired

But so it changed

Into a book, always open

To the ones who dared.

Like a cloud torn by jets

The pages of his life

Remained torn by his friends

With wounds that wouldn’t heal

Even if he was big as a seal.

With the prayers unanswered,

The book remained open

Torn and tattered

But that’s what happens,

As he remained forever

A PASSING CLOUD.

The Broken Heart

I dreamt of love
I dreamt of you
That is when you bid adieu.

As the sun galored
and the moon sailored down the isle
You made my life,
the life with the silver line.

Then she went
and went so far...
To a place ,
I could never be on par.

When the doors closed on my face
I seldom realised it's a boon in place.
I changed my tracks
and reached the heights
That my life had never realized.

I lived the moment
loved the glory
Loved everything i did,
until I realised-
My heart couldn't love
after what you did.

I tried again
In desperation
To get my heart unhooked from within
Only in vain
as it cried out
"I can never be my twin."

Then came the next
A girl all smart
She won me over with her words so soft
And sewed the wounds of MY BROKEN HEART
and when I wanted it over,
It all fell apart.

And when it happened
I stood up tall
Stopping the mighty from a fall.
And let the charming girl go past.
Letting my heart to remain
A BROKEN HEART.

The Railway Corridor

The railway corridor
Early or late
Always the place
With humans to grace

You fancy the stalls,
Unlike the malls
Always active,
But never attractive.

The vendors of fruits
who lost their roots
Wander around
With their baggages so round.

You go or come
Emotions flow like a gum
Bitter at start
But sweeter when you move apart.
